High-Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.)

HIIT Training at Exygon

HIIT-Training-at-ExygonA worldwide survey conducted by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) concluded that the hottest fitness trend of 2014 is High-Intensity Interval Training. H.I.I.T. gets you more fit in less time and supercharges your metabolism! The workouts usually include a short burst of intense exercise followed by a short break for recovery. This style of training has become popular because the workouts are incredibly effective at transforming the body and it takes under 30 minutes to perform!

There are many different ways to do a H.I.I.T. workout and you can use about any exercise you want such as an elliptical machine, stair stepper, treadmill, burpees, jump lunges, etc. The most straightforward way to do H.I.I.T. training is to do a 30 sec / 1 min interval. Go as hard and fast as you can for 30 seconds, then recover for 1 min. Repeat this process between 8 and 15 times. If you are able to do 15 rounds easily the very first time you try H.I.I.T. training, you aren’t going hard enough during your 30 second “sprint” phase. After a 5 min warm up, 8 rounds of H.I.I.T., and a 5 min cool down, you are only working out for 22 minutes! Those 22 minutes will burn more fat and be more beneficial to you than 45 minutes of steady state running.

Try a High-Intensity Interval Training or H.I.I.T. workout the next time you come to Exygon. Not only will you burn tons of calories and fat during the workout, but your body will continue to burn fat throughout the day!
